Resident Evil 5 (Japonya'da bilinen adıyla Biohazard 5), hayatta kalma-korku oyunu öğeleri içeren bir üçüncü şahıs nişancı oyunudur. Bu oyun, Capcom'un beğenilen Resident Evil serisinin beşinci ana oyunudur. Hikâye, orijinal Resident Evil'ın başkahramanı Chris Redfield ve ortağı Sheva Alomar'ı takip eder. Biyoterörizm Güvenlik Değerlendirme İttifakı'nın (BSAA) üyeleri olarak, Afrika'nın Kijuju bölgesindeki yasa dışı bir biyolojik silah ticaretini durdurmakla görevlendirilirler. Oraya vardıklarında, Kijuju'nun taşıyıcılarını zombi benzeri yaratıklara dönüştüren Las Plagas parazitleri tarafından enfekte edildiğini keşfederler. Oyun, serinin hayatta kalma-korku köklerinden uzaklaşıp daha aksiyon odaklı bir oynanış tarzına geçiş yapmasıyla dikkat çeker. Resident Evil 5 ile seriye getirilen diğer önemli yenilik ise iki oyunculu iş birlikçi (co-op) çok oyunculu moddur. Oyun boyunca iki oyuncunun iş birliğini gerektiren birçok durum vardır, bu nedenle tek oyunculu modda ikinci karakter yapay zeka tarafından kontrol edilir.

Resident Evil 5 (also known as Biohazard 5 in Japan) is the third-person shooter with elements of a survivor-horror game. This is the fifth main installment in Capcom’s acclaimed franchise Resident Evil. The story follows Chris Redfield, the protagonist of the original Resident Evil, and his partner Sheva Alomar. As the members of the Bioterrorism Security Assessment Alliance, they are tasked to intercept an illegal bioweapon trade in Kijuju, Africa. Upon arrival, they find out that Kijuju is infected by Las Plagas, parasites that turn its carriers into zombie-like creatures. The game is notable for being a departure from the series survival horror roots towards more action-oriented gameplay style. The other significant innovation in the series brought with Resident Evil 5 is cooperative multiplayer for two players. There are many situations during the game that requires two players cooperation therefore if in singleplayer the second characters is controlled by AI.
